Opposite of hopeless romantic

Our bet is that every girl in the world would raise their hand with the exception of the girls who remain with their high school sweethearts for life. Regardless, we all know guys and girls alike! We are no strangers to this. When we are finally lucky enough to find a great relationship, we bring these negative feelings of past rejections and bad experiences into this new relationship. We are so used to constant disappointment that we literally do not know how to react to being treated the way we deserve.

And chances are, you may have never thought twice about what this popular expression actually implies. Despite the fact that this common phrase is an oxymoron that appears virtually everywhere, I believe the use of this phrase can also be potentially damaging. Do we as a society really have such little faith in our romantic ideals that we must belittle ourselves for being in possession of them? And by doing so, are we not just setting ourselves up for failure and heartbreak by maintaining this bleak outlook on love? I certainly think so. Life imitates art, and art imitates life.

But with some research I found something interesting disturbing. Hmmmm… and what is an Ideal? My existence is based on romance.
