I n , the British photographer David Hamilton published Dreams of a Young Girl, a book full of soft-focus pictures of naked teenagers, with a text by the French writer and film-maker Alain Robbe-Grillet. Years later, questions were raised about whether the photographs constitute art or pornography. Then it explodes those images. In any case, as Pauwels suggests, putting year-olds on stage at a point in their lives when they are going through momentous physical and psychological change can also be seen as a wider metaphor for a world in a state of flux and uncertainty. The show arrives this week in a chaotic, post-referendum UK unsure of its place and how it might move forward.

Mowing the lawn, coffee with friends, dinnertime with family members, even board meetings with colleagues — at this camp, there were no exceptions to the no clothes rule. Most people might be familiar with the ideas of naturism or nudism. Inside the naturist community at Bare Oaks, clothing is only used for protection, whether it be from the cold or from work that might injure your body, but most of the time you would never see a naturist in clothing unless they left the park and went into the general public. In other words, this was not a clothing optional campground — if you are uncomfortable being nude, you will be asked to leave. It is hard to trust someone who is wearing clothing among a group of people who are willing to bare it all.

According to the Crown Prosecution Service's website, the recommended approach to naturism should be that 'in the absence of any sexual context and in relation to nudity where the person has no intention to cause alarm or distress it will normally be appropriate to take no action unless members of the public were actually caused harassment, alarm or distress'.
